A Dream That Became a Mission
Dr. Hawa Alice Kun is a highly accomplished Family Nurse Practitioner, healthcare executive, and visionary entrepreneur dedicated to transforming healthcare delivery. Unique Health School was founded in October 2019 by Dr. Hawa Alice Kun and her husband, Mr. Leo Kun.
Dr. Kun began her healthcare journey by working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and later as a Medical Assistant. She eventually earned her LPN from Standard Health College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Stratford University and a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix. She continued her education and went on to earn her Nurse Practitioner degree and Doctoral from Purdue University.
Built Through Experience, Education, and Purpose
For Hawa, education has never been about simply collecting degrees. Every step of her education has given her a better understanding of healthcare, patient needs, and what it takes to succeed in this profession.
Her experience working directly with patients also shaped the way she teaches. She understands what it feels like to be a student, to work long hours, to balance family responsibilities, and to continue pushing forward when the journey gets difficult. That is one of the things she hopes to pass on to her students.
Preparing Nurses Who Care
At Unique Health School, students are encouraged to see the person not just the patient or the diagnosis. We want our graduates to understand that the person in front of them may be someone’s mother, father, child, grandparent, or loved one.
They deserve the same patience, dignity, respect, and compassion that we would want for our own families.
Our goal is to prepare healthcare professionals who are knowledgeable and confident, but also kind and compassionate.
Alice continues to work in healthcare when she is not teaching, allowing her to stay connected to patient care and the realities of the profession. She brings those experiences back into the classroom, giving students practical insight that goes beyond what they can learn from a textbook.
